Rights Group Urges India to Detain Israeli Reservist Over Gaza Claims

(MENAFN) A Belgium-based human rights organization has called on India to immediately arrest Israeli reservist Eitan Gilboa, accusing him of involvement in and celebration of the destruction of civilian infrastructure in Gaza, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.

The Hind Rajab Foundation said it has submitted a formal complaint to Indian police and immigration authorities, demanding Gilboa’s detention.

No response was immediately issued by the Indian government regarding the request.

According to the group, Gilboa is currently believed to be on holiday in Himachal Pradesh’s Old Manali and Gondla villages. It claims he served in the Israeli army’s 271st Combat Engineering Battalion and took part in demolishing residential structures in Gaza during military operations in 2024.

The complaint further alleges that he recorded and shared videos of destruction in Khan Younis and Rafah, presenting them as retaliatory actions, and later published the material on social media.

It also accuses him of involvement in several incidents linked to the destruction of civilian property, arguing that these actions amount to war crimes under the Geneva Conventions Act, 1960.
