Hamas confirms death of top military leaders in Gaza conflict

(MENAFN) Hamas on Monday confirmed the deaths of several top military leaders, including its prominent military spokesman Abu Ubaida, amid Israel’s ongoing two-year war in Gaza.

In a recorded statement, the group’s armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, mourned Abu Ubaida, whose real name was Hudhayfah Abdullah al-Kahlout, describing him as the public voice of Hamas throughout the conflict.

Hamas also reported the deaths of its chief of staff, Mohammed Sinwar, who had led the Qassam Brigades during “an exceptionally difficult period,” succeeding long-time military commander Mohammed Deif. Other senior commanders confirmed killed include Mohammed Shabana, head of the Rafah Brigade; Yahya Sinwar, the group’s political chief; Hakam Al-Issa, who oversaw multiple leadership roles including training and military academies; and Raed Saad, head of the manufacturing division and former chief of operations.

The losses mark a significant blow to Hamas’s military leadership as the war in Gaza continues, with the group emphasizing the sacrifices of its leaders in resisting Israeli operations.
