Hamas Confirms Death of Senior Commander in Gaza

(MENAFN) The Palestinian organization Hamas confirmed on Sunday that senior commander Raed Saad was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City, despite an ongoing ceasefire arrangement.

On Saturday, four Palestinians lost their lives in an Israeli strike targeting a vehicle in western Gaza City. According to the Israeli military, the operation was aimed at the Hamas commander.

During a televised address, Hamas leader in Gaza, Khalil al-Hayya, affirmed that Saad "lost his life in the Israeli attack."

Saad had previously survived multiple Israeli assassination attempts before ultimately being killed in Saturday's airstrike.

The strike occurred even though a ceasefire agreement had been implemented in Gaza on Oct. 10.

Since the agreement, the Israeli military has reportedly breached the ceasefire on multiple occasions, resulting in the deaths of at least 391 Palestinians and injuries to 1,063 others.

Israel's attacks in Gaza, continuing since October 2023 despite the truce, have killed over 70,600 people, predominantly women and children, and caused injuries to more than 171,100 individuals, according to reports.
