Irish Band Voices Support for Palestine

(MENAFN) Irish post-punk group Fontaines D.C. displayed a strong sense of solidarity with Palestine during their live appearance in Istanbul on Sunday, as a Palestinian flag remained visible on the stage throughout the entire show.

Spectators also shouted phrases like "Free Palestine," further amplifying the group’s stance.

The performance was held at KucukCiftlik Park and marked the band's debut appearance in Türkiye, according to organizers Epifoni and URU.

The band opened the concert with their track Here’s the Thing, and continued with a selection of their popular songs, including Boys in the Better Land, It’s Amazing to Be Young, In the Modern World, and Starburster.

Fontaines D.C. conveyed appreciation to their supporters and expressed joy about playing in Istanbul for the first time.

Ireland is widely viewed as one of Europe’s most pro-Palestinian nations.

In May, it joined Spain and Norway in recognizing Palestinian statehood and has been vocal in its criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza.
